Do The KIND Thing
The Book in One Sentence
Founder & CEO of KIND Snacks, Daniel Lubetzky, shares his favorite stories & lessons learned from growing one of the fasting-growing healthy snack brands in the world.
3 Actionable Takeaways
1) Think with the "AND" Philosophy.
"One thread that runs through this book is a revelation I uncovered along the journey - the power of thinking with AND.
People often let circumstances force them into choosing between two seemingly incompatible options - like making a snack bar that either tastes good or is healthy for you.
At KIND we pride ourselves on creating new paths and models that avoid that kind of false compromise.
Instead of 'Or,' we say 'And.'"
2) Deliver excellence by focusing on ONE thing at a time.
"In the beginning, we had too many brands and products to pay attention to.
It was insanely dumb, but like many entrepreneurs who believe they can do it all, I didn't see it at the time.
When you're building a business, you want to focus and deliver excellence at what you do.
This simply cannot be done when you are launching multiple ventures, dozens of new products, and selling everywhere and anywhere at the same time."
3) Create a culture where EVERY interaction matters.
"To maintain our entrepeneurial spirit, we have to create a culture in which everyone remembers that every order, big or small - and every interaction, every moment - will define what our company is today and what it will become tomorrow.
The moment you sit back as your customers are walking past your booth will you haunt you five years from now when you realize, "That was the turning point when we took our first step toward mediocrity."
If you can inculcate in your team that every moment means everything, you can then step back to let them lead."
